A curious photograph has given comfort to a grieving father who lost his son in a deadly tornado last May, though the seemingly supernatural reason the bereaved father has been put at ease might seem unbelievable.

Scott McCabe wholeheartedly believes that his 9-year-old son, Nicolas, who died inside Plaza Towers Elementary School during the disastrous tornado that struck Moore, Okla., has made himself visible from beyond the grave.

The picture in question shows Madison, Nicolas’ cousin, playing with a lighted sparkler on July 4 — nearly two months after the boy’s death. Upon closer examination, it looks as though a second child is standing behind her.

The problem? Madison was the only person in front of camera when the cell phone picture was snapped. Now, McCabe is convinced that Nicolas appeared behind her.

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” he told KWTV-TV. ”Nicolas loved the Fourth of July and he loved firecrackers.”

McCabe said that the apparition has been a major source of comfort.

“I was in awe. It touched my heart. It’s obviously not Madison,” the father said. “It’s obvious there are two people there or one person there and one spirit there.”

McCabe said his brother was also amazed after seeing the picture.

While some might dismiss the phenomenon as a camera glitch that resulted from Madison’s movements, McCabe told KWTV it’s clear to him that the two faces have different features and skin tones.

And that’s not all — the father said there was one more gripping detail. Nicolas was buried in his red Plaza Towers Elementary T-Shirt — and McCabe said he can make out a red shirt on the figure seemingly standing behind Madison.

McCabe knows many people will be skeptical of the image, but he’s not concerned with naysayers.

“They can say what they want. I believe,” he told KWTV. “I believe he’s watching over us.”

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) is reporting  that the Vityaz early-warning radar system deployed along the entire Russian border has confirmed the Republic of China Navy (ROCN) launching from their Type 092 Xia-class nuclear ballistic-missile submarine (SSBN) of two atomic JL-2 missiles off the Northeast American coastline near the State of Oregon on Wednesday 30 October and Wednesday 20 November.

According to this report, these two latest sub-launched nuclear ballistic tests by China off the west coast of the United States were preceded by a similar test conducted on Monday 10 November 2010 when a Chinese Navy Jin class ballistic missile nuclear submarine, deployed secretly from its underground home base on the south coast of Hainan island, launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from international waters off the southern California coast in full view of Los Angeles.

As the Pentagon and their US mainstream media sycophants covered up the 10 November 2010 China missile launch, this MoD report continues, they have likewise labeled the 30 October missile launch as a fireball-meteor and the 20 November one as ‘maybe’ another fireball-meteor or contrail.

Important to note, Russian intelligence analysts in this report say, was that China “cryptically warned” the US about its planned 30 October launch test when on Sunday 27 October the world was given a rare glimpse into China’s nuclear-powered submarine fleet, with State-owned media carrying extensive coverage of the previously mysterious strategic deterrence force.

The unprecedented revealing of the underwater fleet was a demonstration of China’s confidence in its sea-based nuclear strike capability and serves as a deterrent to any attempted provocation amid the changing geopolitical situation, said military observers.

Starting on Sunday 27 October, China Central Television carried serial coverage two days in a row on the submarine force of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy’s Beihai fleet in its flagship news program Xinwen Lianbo.

The People’s Daily, the PLA Daily and the China Youth Daily on Monday all carried front-page stories, features and commentaries on the submarine force, applauding its achievements since the launch of China’s first nuclear-powered submarine in December 1970.

To the most chilling warning to the Obama regime from China regarding these missile tests the Washington Times News Service further reports:

“Chinese calculations for nuclear attacks on the U.S. are chillingly macabre.

“Because the Midwest states of the U.S. are sparsely populated, in order to increase the lethality, [our] nuclear attacks should mainly target the key cities on the West Coast of the United States, such as Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego,” the Global Times said.

“The 12 JL-2 nuclear warheads carried by one single Type 094 SSBN can kill and wound 5 million to 12 million Americans,” the Global Times reported.

China also has developed land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles — notably the DF-31A, which has a range of 7,000 to 7,500 miles.

“If we launch our DF 31A ICBMs over the North Pole, we can easily destroy a whole list of metropolises on the East Coast and the New England region of the U.S., including Annapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Portland, Baltimore and Norfolk, whose population accounts for about one-eighth of America’s total residents.”

All the state-run press reports stressed the point that the PLA’s missile submarines are now on routine strategic patrol, “which means that China for the first time has acquired the strategic deterrence and second strike capability against the United States.”

Though the American people themselves have been kept in near total ignorance of the coming war between them and China, the same cannot be said of the rest of the world, including Doug Saunders of The Globe and Mail, Canada’s leading newspaper, who reported in its 15 July edition that the United States and China have been preparing for an all-out war and which we, in part, quote from The Nation News Service:

“Both the Pentagon and the People’s Liberation Army are building up their military strategies. It appears that a global war is in the making.

Saunders wrote that the Pentagon is proceeding with war preparations without oversight from the White House or Congress. This gives the impression that the Pentagon is operating as an independent state within the state. The Pentagon is relying on the AirSea Battle strategy, in which the US Army and Air Force will stand ready to support 320,000 military personnel in a simultaneous land and air attack against China in the event of a spillover war in the South China Sea or surrounding areas.

President Obama has spoken of a pivot to Asia, followed by the US Defence Department’s plan to move most of the US naval capability to the Asia Pacific to counter the rise of China. We can feel that the US military, in spite of the turmoil in Syria, Egypt and the Middle East, is re-asserting its influence in the Asia-Pacific. The US and China are now engaging in a full-scale currency war. A physical war could be the inevitable course. A rise of China threatens the US dollar as the world’s reserve currency and the US supremacy.

On China’s side, we can assume that the Chinese leadership has ordered a full preparation for a war with the United States. China has secretly built up its military capability, with modern weapons and sophisticated technology. China said it is ready to develop an anti-AirSea Battle strategy. China’s President has urged the military to prepare for the war and to fight to win.”

To how soon open warfare between China and the US will break out this report doesn’t say. However, it does note that China’s “bombshell move” against the US Dollar this week makes its likelihood much sooner than later.

In further reporting on China’s move against the US Dollar the dissident American website InfoWars.com states:

“China just dropped an absolute bombshell, but it was almost entirely ignored by the mainstream media in the United States. The central bank of China has decided that it is “no longer in China’s favor to accumulate foreign-exchange reserves”. During the third quarter of 2013, China’s foreign-exchange reserves were valued at approximately $3.66 trillion.

For years, China has been systematically propping up the value of the U.S. dollar and keeping the value of the yuan artificially low. This has resulted in a massive flood of super cheap products from across the Pacific that U.S. consumers have been eagerly gobbling up.

And now China has apparently decided that there is not much gutting of our economy left to do and that it is time to let the dollar collapse.”

It’s a question pondered by philosophers, scientists and the devout since the dawn of time: is there an afterlife?

While the religious would argue that life on earth is a mere warm up for an eternity spent in heaven or hell, and many scientists would dismiss the concept for lack of proof – one expert claims he has definitive evidence to confirm once and for all that there is indeed life after death.

The answer, Professor Robert Lanza says, lies in quantum physics – specifically the theory of biocentrism. The scientist, from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina, says the evidence lies in the idea that the concept of death is a mere figment of our consciousness.

Professor Lanza says biocentrism explains that the universe only exists because of an individual’s consciousness of it – essentially life and biology are central to reality, which in turn creates the universe; the universe itself does not create life. The same applies to the concepts of space and time, which Professor Lanza describes as “simply tools of the mind”.

In a message posted on the scientist’s website, he explains that with this theory in mind, the concept of death as we know it is “cannot exist in any real sense” as there are no true boundaries by which to define it. Essentially, the idea of dying is something we have long been taught to accept, but in reality it just exists in our minds.

Professor Lanza says biocentrism is similar to the idea of parallel universes - a concept hypothesised by theoretical physicists. In much the same way as everything that could possibly happen is speculated to be occurring all at once across multiple universes, he says that once we begin to question our preconceived concepts of time and consciousness, the alternatives are huge and could alter the way we think about the world in a way not seen since the 15th century’s “flat earth” debate.

He goes on to use the so-called double-slit experiment as proof that the behaviour of a particle can be altered by a person’s perception of it. In the experiment, when scientists watch a particle pass through a multi-holed barrier, the particle acts like a bullet travelling through a single slit. When the article is not watched, however, the particle moves through the holes like a wave.

Scientists argue that the double-slit experiment proves that particles can act as two separate entities at the same time, challenging long-established ideas of time and perception.

Although the idea is rather complicated, Professor Lanza says it can be explained far more simply using colours. Essentially, the sky may be perceived as blue, but if the cells in our brain were changed to make the sky look green, was the sky every truly blue or was that just our perception?

In terms of how this affects life after death, Professor Lanza explains that, when we die, our life becomes a “perennial flower that returns to bloom in the multiverse”. He added: “Life is an adventure that transcends our ordinary linear way of thinking. When we die, we do so not in the random billiard-ball-matrix but in the inescapable-life-matrix.”

A pair of pants made from human skin is so grotesque they could make even Hannibal Lecter reach for the barf bag. The 17th century human trousers, called “necropants,” are on display at the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft in Iceland. According to the museum, the bizarre slacks were made by skinning the legs of a dead man from the waist down, and include all the bits and pieces in between. Yes, even the genitals.

Legend has it that the macabre necropants were worn by 17th century sorcerers who believed the pants possessed magical powers and would bring them wealth and luck. By placing a coin inside the scrotum of the human khakis, the wearer was promised an endless flow of money “into the scrotum so it will never be empty.”

If this sounds like a sour deal for the guy whose legs were flayed, don’t worry – he was apparently in on the deal, too. Whoever wanted a pair of necropants would have to make arrangements with a friend to remove his skin postmortem.

Upon donning a pair of necropants, the wearer and the pants would reportedly become one. “They would immediately be stuck with your own flesh and be part of your body,” a spokesperson for the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft told the Mail Online. “People would be able to use them as long as they lived, but they would have to get rid of them before they die. If they would find someone to take them over the pants could last forever.”

Want a pair of necropants to call your own? No sweat; the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft even includes a DIY guide on how to make your own pair of necropants.

“If you want to make your own necropants (literally; nábrók) you have to get permission from a living man to use his skin after his dead [sic],” the instructionsread. According to the museum’s guidelines, after a man has been buried, you have to dig him up and flay the skin of his corpse “in one piece from the waist down.”

Then, you have to steal a coin from his widow and place it inside the scrotum along with a “magical sign” scribbled on a piece of paper. And if you wanted to keep the magical power of the pants profitable, you would have to pass the pants along to a worthy heir.

It is important to note that the necropants as seen on display at the museum in Iceland are just a replica, according to The Huffington Post. Still, even the replica itself – and just the possibility that these things could have been around hundreds of years ago – are enough to make us squirm.

Central Mexico, 35 miles northeast of Mexico City, in a highlands plateau, lies the enormous archaeological site of the ancient city of Teotihuacan. Established around 100 B.C., and lasting until its fall between the seventh and eighth centuries, Teotihuacan was one of the largest cities in the ancient world, with over 150,000 inhabitants at its peak.

As you walk through the city you notice immediately the difference compared to other ancient cities. Teotihuacan is amazing, it has this advanced but ancient felling in it. Teotihuacan has a modern city layout, you have a Street of the Dead that goes for miles, along which you have all of the major ceremonial architecture, including some of the largest buildings ever erected in the New World.

According to archaeologists the advanced design of Teotihuacan suggests that ancient builders had knowledge, not only of architecture, but of complex mathematical and astronomical sciences, and one of the things that is just incredibly amazing and different from all other ancient sites is the fact that from the air, Teotihuacan‘s city layout strangely resembles a computer circuit board with two large processor chips– the Sun Pyramid and the Moon Pyramid. Researchers have also found numerous and remarkable similarities to the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

As you can observe, the layout of the three main pyramids in Teotihuacan incredibly resemble a modern day circuit board with processors, and this detail is unique to Teotihuacan and like many other details can only be appreciated from the sky, and we know that the placement of these ancient monuments was not random and had mathematical, geometrical and geographical influence. Is it possible that in the city layout of Teotihuacan a hidden Pyramid code is waiting to be found?

Researchers have also found numerous and remarkable similarities to the Great Pyramids of Egypt. The Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza and the Sun Pyramid at Teotihuacan apparently have about the same base almost 750 feet square.

The Pyramid of the Sun is exactly half as tall as the Pyramid of Giza and the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Moon, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl are in the same layout as Orion’s Belt, which is basically the formation in which the three pyramids of the Giza Plateau have been laid out into as well so this is just too complex to be just a coincidence as some researchers refer to.

You have an ancient civilizations in Egypt and you have another in Central Mexico, separated by over seven thousand miles, yet they have constructed their monuments in such alignment to Orion’s constellation that it leaves researchers, archaeologists and scientists baffled. You can try to explain this but you cannot come to a logical conclusion other than that these civilizations had to have been connected in some way.

One of the most interesting things about Teotihuacan is the finding by archaeologists of the extensive use of mica embedded in numerous structures. This mineral is found 3,000 miles away in Brazil and it is found in all buildings, housing complexes, temples and along the roads so basically this mineral is all over Teotihuacan. The pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan contained considerable amounts of mica in layers up to 30 cm.

Human use of mica dates back to prehistoric times. Mica was known to ancient Indian, Egyptian, Greek and Roman and Chinese civilizations, as well as the Aztec civilization of the New World. The earliest use of mica has been found in cave paintings created during the Upper Paleolithic period (40,000 BC to 10,000 BC).

Obviously Mica was not incorporated to these constructions for decoration purposes because you couldn’t see it, so it is clear that this mineral was incorporated into these monuments for another purpose. Mica is stable when exposed to electricity, light, moisture, and extreme temperatures. It has superior electrical properties as an insulator and as a dielectric, and can support an electrostatic field while dissipating minimal energy in the form of heat; it can be split very thin (0.025 to 0.125 millimeters or thinner) while maintaining its electrical properties, has a high dielectric breakdown, is thermally stable to 500 °C, and is resistant to corona discharge.

Muscovite, the principal mica used by the electrical industry, is used in capacitors that are ideal for high frequency and radio frequency. Phlogopite mica remains stable at higher temperatures (to 900 °C) and is used in applications in which a combination of high-heat stability and electrical properties is required. Muscovite and phlogopite are used in sheet and ground forms.

So we know that Mica was not used for aesthetic purposes so they must have had a very specific and good reason to incorporate it, they clearly knew of the characteristics of this mineral. Teotihuacan, a marvel of ancient engineering.

Apollo 17 was the final mission of the United States’ Apollo lunar landing program also, it was the sixth landing of humans on the Moon. The mission was launched on December 7, 1972, with a three-member crew consisting of Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans, and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt. The Apollo 17 mission  remains the most recent manned Moon landing.

While digging through some of the images made available to the public, we came across the image cataloged as AS17-135-20680HR. This strange image at first glance might not draw your attention, but upon closer examination you will notice a triangle shaped object hiding in the background, so the question comes up as to what could it be? Is it just a camera malfunction? Or is there something more to it.

We decided to investigate a bit more and examined the image further and as we played around with the contrast and brightness of the image we managed to get some pretty nice results that helped us see this object in a better way. First of all check out the original image available through the NASA archives ( http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/a17/AS17-135-20680HR.jpg ):

Notice the Pyramid/triangle shaped object at the center of the image.

At first you might find it hard to see anything but while looking at the picture, imagine what the great pyramid of Giza looks like, or the Pyramids found in Sudan. The similarities are present. Here below we have the same image but with different brightness and contrast and suddenly things look a bit clearer, here’s what we got:

After looking at the original image and at the enhanced images provided above, you will easily notice a triangular shaped object in the image, but, is it enough evidence to say, “there is a pyramid on the moon”… some might say no, its just another camera malfunction, or its your imagination messing with your head, certainly all of the conclusions could be possible but none of them explain why there is a pyramid shaped object in the Apollo 17 image. Is it to crazy to believe there are actual structures on the moon, like lunar outposts, constructed by alien visitors? If so how could you explain images like the clearly visible structures in NASA’s LCROSS mission? At this point anything is possible, but the question still remains, is there an actual pyramid on the moon? You decide and post your comments.

While the whole world has already given more than 200 million US dollars to help the victims of the super typhoon Haiyan(Yolanda), the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI) of the Philippines is doing a 'Diskwento Caravan' - selling goods to the typhoon victims in low prices.

According to the news reported by the GMA network, the DTI has been selling some basic goods like bread, coffee, milk, and processed meat to the people of Tacloban City who was recently devastated by the super typhoon Haiyan. It was mentioned that the DTI is selling these goods in 10% to 30% less than the original price in the market. The people of Tacloban City were left no choice but to grab this little opportunity because, as they stated, they might die in hunger if they will just depend on the 'little' amount of food donations being distributed by the Philippine government.

This fact is VERY DISAPPOINTING and VERY FRUSTRATING since the whole world knew that the donations for the Filipino people were overflowing since day one after the typhoon. While the government of other countries have been thoughtfully giving great amount of help to the Filipino people affected by the typhoon, the government of the Philippines seems to be unwilling to help its own people.

The history of science teaches us to question what we think we know.

Some scientists who made great discoveries in history were ridiculed and dismissed by the scientific community at the time.

Some scientists who were way off the mark were celebrated; their theories were held as facts for decades or even centuries.

1. Doctors Should Wash Their Hands

It seems obvious now, but Ignaz Semmelweis had a tough time convincing scientists and doctors 150 years ago that disease could be spread if doctors’ hands and tools were not cleaned.

He was ridiculed and rejected by the majority of his colleagues and superiors at the University of Vienna. He moved to Budapest and worked at a hospital there, slashing mortality rates to a record low by keeping things clean.

Harvard MD John Long Wilson writes of Semmelweis’s rejection: “His doctrine was opposed by powerful members of the academic hierarchy. … The damning evidence that they were themselves the remorseless messengers of death was a scarcely veiled threat to their pride and eminence.”

2. Cheese Gives Birth to Mice

It was widely held until the 17th century that inanimate objects could produce living beings. The Encyclopedia Britannica gives an example: cheese and bread left in a dark corner were thought to produce mice—not attract mice, produce mice.

Similarly, decaying meat was thought to produce maggots.

Francesco Redi showed in the 17th century that meat does not produce maggots (flies lay eggs on the meat, producing maggots), by sealing some meat in a jar and leaving some exposed. The meat in the jar did not form maggots.

3. Tobacco Will Cure Almost Any Ailment

Children were told to smoke tobacco in 1665 during the London plague,according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health. During the 16th century, tobacco was widely prescribed in Europe as a cure for many illnesses, including cancer.

4. Germs Kill People 

Many scientists could not accept that tiny little germs could cause diseases and kill people. Louis Pasteur was initially ridiculed for his theories about microbes. He proved they could be killed with heat, preventing disease.

He also showed that microbes are involved in the souring of wine and milk. The term “pasteurized milk” is named for him.

5. Fritz Zwicky Ridiculed by Colleagues ‘Missing 99 Percent of the Universe’ 

Fritz Zwicky developed the theory of dark matter in the 1930s. He was met with great skepticism and largely ignored for more than 40 years.

His descendants wrote a letter to Caltech’s journal of Engineering & Science in 2010, describing the reaction of the scientific community to Zwicky’s theory: “My grandfather identified an extravaganza of precedent-setting observations that were not understood by many benighted ignoramus of his time.

“Therefore, he no doubt invoked great animosity by telling his colleagues that they were missing 99 percent of the universe, and that they were only looking at the dust bunnies in front of the door.

“No conductor wants to be told he has lost his caboose.”

6. If You’re Sick, Just Slit Your Veins

Bloodletting was immensely popular as a treatment for almost any ailment for centuries. It was endorsed by some doctors right up through to the 20th century.

Doctors—or barbers, who also somehow became responsible for performing this treatment—would cut patients and let blood drain until the patients would faint.

U.S. President George Washington died of bloodletting. He was being treated for a sore throat. He isn’t the only one. Doctors eventually realized the cure was killing many patients.

MedTech notes that today, bloodletting may still be effective in very particular circumstances. For example, it can help some people at risk of blood clots.

7. Continental Drift

Alfred Wegener first hypothesized in a 1912 paper that continents had shifted on the Earth’s surface over the ages. The theory was met with widespread skepticism until new evidence emerged in the late 1950s and 1960s.

The theory was eventually accepted; it was incorporated into, and improved upon, by plate tectonics.

8. The Earth Revolves Around the Sun

The Ptolemaic understanding of the solar system held that Earth is at the center with the sun and planets revolving around it. This view was not simply related to physics; it placed emphasis on humankind’s spiritual significance in the cosmos.

In the 16th Century, Nicolaus Copernicus hypothesized the sun, not the Earth, is the center of the solar system.

Galileo Galilei agreed after studying space through his telescope, but he was condemned, largely because the Catholic Church held this view to be heretical.

9. Mendel’s Genetics Ahead of His Time

Now known as the father of genetics, Gregor Mendel’s theories gained little interest from the scientists of his time. Mendel’s work with pea plants was only recognized for its importance after his death.

He observed the traits passed on to pea plants from their parent plants. He realized he could calculate mathematical probabilities that certain traits would be passed on through reproduction.

At the time, biologists viewed heredity as a process of characteristics from each parent blending together in the offspring.

10. The Earth is Not Flat

It was long held in many cultures throughout history that the world is flat, not round.

In ancient Greece, Pythagoras and Aristotle both theorized that the world is round though many of their contemporaries thought it to be flat. Biblical accounts of the “four corners” of the Earth perpetuated the view of the earth as flat.

It is a myth that educated Europeans in the 15th century believed the world to be flat as Christopher Columbus embarked on his explorations. By that time, it was commonly held that the world is spherical.

‘To err is science’

Douglas Allchin of the Minnesota Center for the Philosophy of Science summed it up in a paper presented to the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2000: “To err is science.”

Allchin noted that learning from mistakes is part of the process, and progress means leaving old views behind for the new.

Will our modern theories one day seem silly? Perhaps some scientists ridiculed today will be redeemed tomorrow.

Lucy Luckayanko is perhaps the only New Yorker to have an eye-stud. She spent $3,000 on a one-minute procedure to have a heart-shaped piece of platinum inserted into the white of her right eyeball.

Harvard and NYU-trained Dr. Chynn performed the procedure. Interestingly, he has been featured here on OC before. He made news last August as a love-crazed doctor desperate to find his soul-mate. He spent thousands of dollars on high-end matchmaking services and charity donations in exchange for dates. When nothing worked out, he began to offer free cosmetic procedures to anyone who would introduce him to the girl of his dreams. Going by this, we don’t know if Lucy has had to pay for her treatment or got it free in exchange for setting up Dr. Chynn on a date. In any case, she went ahead with it and now she looks like she has a piece of dirt stuck in her eye forever.

It seems doctors have done this procedure several times in Europe and Los Angeles, but this was New York’s first. To perform it, Dr. Chynn first injected an anesthetic into Lucy’s eye. Then he made a tiny incision to “try to divide a pocket in between the sclera (the white part) and the conjunctiva (the clear part)” of her eye. Using forceps, he placed the 3.5mm platinum stud in a drop of water on Lucy’s eye membrane. Since the stud is so small, it had to be floated into position. It was all over in a matter of minutes and Lucy went home with her new bejeweled eye soon after.

This bizarre cosmetic procedure was invented in 2004 by a Dutch eye surgeon. Dr. Chynn tells us it’s very safe. “It’s a very thin piece of platinum that’s designed for insertion on top of the eye, it’s not in the eye so there’s no risk of blindness or anything at all,” he said. “She could have a little bit of local bleeding. That could go away in a couple of days or couple of weeks. She could have an infection but we’ll prevent that with antibiotics.”

Lucy doesn’t seem too bothered with the consequences, however. She’s just really happy with her “really small, really tiny, really cute” eye-heart. I wonder if she knows that her cute heart isn’t even FDA approved. The American Academy of Ophthalmology is warning consumers about potential dangers. They say there isn’t “sufficient evidence to support the safety or therapeutic value of this procedure,” and that people should “avoid placing in the eye any foreign body or material that is not approved by the FDA.

A few days after the procedure, Lucy said she did not have any issues or pain with her new accessory. “50 percent of my friends are like: ‘What is it? Why do you need it oh my god are you crazy?’ But 50 percent of my friends are like: ‘Oh my god, its super cool.’” She could even swap it with something else when she gets bored of the heart. Each swap costs $1,000.

James Wannerton possesses the unusual ability to derive an actual physical taste from places and names.

The 54-year-old suffers from a rare neurological disorder called lexical-gustatory synesthesia which means that senses usually experienced individually become linked together. The side effect of the condition is that James is able to taste words, sounds and other inputs that usually have nothing to do with that sense at all.

"These tastes and textures are a real mouth feel and not simply an association," he said. "They are all involuntary and the taste and textures cannot be 'turned off' or 'toned down.'"

In a move that has helped neurologists better understand the condition, James has taken to producing a detailed map of the London Underground based on the unique tastes he's experienced at each station over the last 49 years.

Among the more unusual stops are "Burnt matches", "Chocolate Digestives" and "Curly Wurly". Each station seems to invoke a different taste ranging from common foodstuffs to more random things such as "Coal Dust" and "Pencil Eraser".

Just a year after the Mayans wrongly predicted the world would end, Nordic mythology has foretold the End of Days with a Viking Apocalypse.

The countdown to Ragnarok has begun, with just 99 days until the world ends on 22 February next year, Norse experts have said.

A horn announced the start of the countdown from a rooftop in York. The horn belonged to the Norse god Heimdallr, who was believed to have blown it to warn people of their impending doom.

Norse mythology says that the god Odin will be killed by the wolf Fenrir and all of the other "creator" gods will fall. The world will then be born again and will be repopulated by two humans.

During the world's end, the sun's beams will become black and the weather will become treacherous, mythology states. "Brothers will fight and kill each other, sisters' children will defile kinship. It is harsh in the world, whoredom rife - an axe age, a sword age - shields are riven - a wind age, a wolf age - before the world goes headlong. No man will have mercy on another," a prophetic poem says.

"In the last couple of years, we've had predictions of the Mayan apocalypse, which passed without incident, and numerous other dates where the end of the world has been pencilled in by seers, fortune tellers and visionaries, but the sound of the horn is possibly the best indicator yet that the Viking version of the end of the world really will happen on 22 February next year."

The festival will run between 15 and 23 February in locations around the city of York and visitors will be offered to eat and drink like Vikings.

"During the week of the Jorvik Viking Festival, we will be doing everything we can to equip the people of York, and visitors from afar, with the tools to survive the apocalypse, from hunting for the mightiest and strongest warriors to training children in combat skills," Daglan said.

"Following a study published in 2010 that bearded men are more trustworthy than those without, we're also looking for fantastic displays of facial hair, so that we can identify those with the potential to take us into the brave new world that is foretold to follow Ragnarok."

Sarah Maltby, director of attractions for York Archaeological Trust, said: "Visitors can expect to see Vikings wandering around just about every street in the city, including a parade from York Minster to Coppergate, learn about Viking combat, continue the tradition of telling ancient sagas, and then join us for a spectacular night-time Festival finale at the Eye of York on Saturday 22 February."

A Saudi Arabian writer has advocated the molestation of all working women.

Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood, an author of self-help books like The Joy of Talking, has nearly 100,000 followers on Twitter. And he has called on all of them to sexually molest women employed as cashiers in grocery stores.

Gulf News reports that Dawood's comments, circulated on the social networking Web site under #harass_female_cashiers, are probably meant to force women to stay at home. The Twitter campaign is one of several started by ultra-conservative individuals and organisations, who want the immediate withdrawal of a number of limited-impact social and economic reform measures.

Dawood's comments threaten the slow but steady induction of large numbers of Saudi women into the country's private sector, a number that first began swelling in 2011.

Khalid Ebrahim Al Saqabi, a conservative cleric, supported Dawood's calls and said the government's law against sexual harassment was "only meant to encourage consensual debauchery". He also accused the labour minister of being "concerned with finding jobs for women instead of men".

Meanwhile, Dawood justified his call to harass women by reciting the old folk story of a famous warrior - Al Zubair - who did not want his wife to leave home to pray in the mosque. And to prevent her from doing so, one night Zubair hid in the dark and molested her as she walked past. The terrified wife ran home and never stepped out again. She apparently realised "there is no safer place than home and the world out there is corrupt".

The Gulf News report adds that Dawood's followers have vociferously supported his statements. And amid the rush to hire more native workers, particularly women, the proposed anti-harassment law has drawn further flak.

One Twitter user wrote: "It is a man-made law and it can't be accepted in a kingdom ruled by God's law. They had better ban mingling of the sexes, not protect it."

There are still voices from within the country that support an egalitarian, at least so far as gender goes, Saudi Arabian state. Another writer, Waleed Al Khawaji, tweeted: "What kind of person urges the youth to commit debauchery?"

And some others chose to vent their disapproval in more forceful tones.

"You are a f*****g disgrace to mankind, Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood, I hope you die a slow and painful death. Hope your wife gets molested," Adil (‏@adil_khan86) tweeted.

"Why the f**k a misogynist prick like Abdullah Mohamed al-Dawood has not been arrested for inciting violence vs women is beyond me," Mona Eltahawy (@monaeltahawy) posted.

"I'm pretty sure there's a special place in Hell for people like him," @moustafachamli wrote.

The IEVPC announces today its latest prediction for a major earthquake, centered between the Philippines and northern Indonesia in the Molucca Sea.

The quake is expected to produce a M8.0+ event with possible tsunami. The time frame for this quake to strike is from now until December 2014 and is detailed in the associated warning notice posted at the IEVPC web site (www.ievpc.org).

Analysis of the precursor signals from its proprietary system for quake detection has allowed the IEVPC to issue this important warning to the nations affected with substantial advance preparation time. This warning comes after the IEVPC has recently completed its highly successful test program during which it had correctly predicted three important earthquake events with a high degree of accuracy.

According to Director of Research, Dr. Dong Choi, “This new alert specifies the epicenter will be in the vicinity of the Talaud and Sangihe islands. All island nations in the region are however, under substantial risk since we have also forecast an associated tsunami. Many cities, towns, and villages in this area are located directly on the coastal areas throughout this region of steep-sided islands. Thus, people may be subjected to devastating waves hitting the shore lines if the predicted earthquake unfolds as we believe it might. Further, the area is already experiencing much increased volcanic activity and a major eruption cannot be ruled out, adding to the difficulties people in this area will experience.”

If you take a good, hard look at a vulva, you realize it's just a bit of a body. There's nothing that is shocking or scary, you know, nothing that is gonna run out and eat you up.

Casey Jenkins identifies herself as a former "craftivist"—a term she defines as "using traditional craft techniques for a political or social activism purpose." She and her colleagues in the Craft Cartel acted as a sort of "Pussy Riot" in their native Australia, combating misogyny and closed government. It doesn't get much more open than her latest work of gallery performance art, "Casting Off My Womb"—or as Aussie TV called it, "Vaginal Knitting."

It is what it sounds like: "I'm spending 28 days knitting from wool that I've inserted in my vagina," Jenkins says. "It's confining, because I'm attached to this knitting."

What emerges is not only an active sensory performance—"It's sort of slightly uncomfortable sometimes, arousing sometimes"—but a piece of cloth that literally records a female life in all its natural states: "The performance wouldn't be a performance if I were going to cut out my menstrual cycle from it."

None of this is terribly novel to observers of feminist art: Its discomforting exhibitionism conjures up classics like Yoko Ono's "Cut Piece." Its vaginal showcasing echoes Carolee Schneeman's "Internal Scroll." Hell, its interest in the womanly elemental creative force even hints of Mary Kelly's pre- and post-partum documents.

Still, there's something interesting going on with all of these themes: the vagina as both creative force and an agent of tethering, of isolation. The record of a life in menstrual cycles. The embrace of what society considers taboo to display, even unfairly calls ugly or grotesque.

Is it cutting-edge art in 2013? Perhaps not. But it's still jarring. And perhaps its power lies in the fact that the same feminist themes and visuals that shocked us in the '60s and '70s still shock us today. "I hope that people question the fears and the negative associations they have with the vulva," Jenkins says.

You've come a long way, baby; now get back to your knitting.

Does God exist? Does the Devil exist? The Catholic church believes they both do - and some priests say they are currently having an immense battle in Mexico.

To some it may seem extraordinary, but priests say the country is under attack by Satan, and that more exorcists are needed to fight him.

This attack, they say, is showing itself in the gruesome drug-related violence, including human sacrifice, that has engulfed the country since 2006.

According to the latest official figures available, at least 70,000 people have died in this period, including gunmen, members of the security forces, and many innocent civilians.

But, the priests say, it's not just the numbers. The savagery also stands out.

In recent years it has not been uncommon in many parts of Mexico for children to find dismembered bodies on the streets on their way to school. Or for commuters on busy roads to drive past bridges with severely tortured corpses hanging from them. Scenes from hell.

 "We believe that behind all these big and structural evils there is a dark agent and his name is The Demon. That is why the Lord wants to have here a ministry of exorcism and liberation, for the fight against the Devil," says Father Carlos Triana, a priest, and an exorcist, in Mexico City.

"As much as we believe that the Devil was behind Adolf Hitler, possessing and directing him, we also believe that he (the Devil) is here behind the drug cartels."

Mexico's exorcists say there is unprecedented demand for their services.

Some are even not taking new cases, as they are having to exorcise demons almost every day.

Most of the cases, he explains, require a lesser form of exorcism, called liberation prayers - effective when a person still controls part of his or her mind and body.

Only rarely does the Devil possess someone completely, he says, but when that happens, the bishop of the diocese must intervene.

In Bautista's view, the rising demand for exorcism is partly explained by the large numbers of Mexicans joining the cult of Saint Death, or Santa Muerte.

It is estimated that the cult, whose followers worship a skull in a wedding dress carrying a scythe, has some eight million followers in Mexico - and more among Mexican migrants in Central America, the US and Canada.

"It has also been adopted by the drug traffickers who ask her for help to avoid arrest and to make money," Bautista says. "In exchange they offer human sacrifices. And this has increased the violence in Mexico."

Another reason for the surge in exorcisms, he argues, is the decriminalisation of abortions in Mexico City, in 2007. Both the cult and abortion have given evil spirits a foothold in the country, he insists.

"Both things are closely related. There is an infestation of demons in Mexico because we have opened our doors to Death."

If it is surprising how many Mexicans believe in Saint Death, it may also be surprising how many believe, like Father Triana and Father Bautista, that the Devil and demons are at work in the country.

Exorcism is an ancient practice and one that appears in many different religions, but many believers doubt the existence of demons.

A frontline of sorts for Mexico's exorcists is the northern region of the country where, for the last seven years, the Mexican military has been waging war against the heavily armed and cash-rich drug cartels.

In parallel with the soldiers, priests have been waging a spiritual conflict. One is Father Ernesto Caro, based in Monterrey, a city blighted by frequent shootouts and kidnappings.

He has exorcised several members of the drug cartels - and there is one case he cannot forget. It was a gang hitman, who confessed to horrific crimes. Father Caro said the man had been in charge of cutting the bodies into pieces and he said he enjoyed hearing them cry as he did so. Others he burned alive.

The priest says the man had committed his life to the service of Saint Death.

"The cult is the first step into Satanism and then into this band of people [the drug traffickers], that's why he was chosen for that job."

"Santa Muerte is being used by all our drug dealers and those linked to these brutal murders. We've found that most of them, if not all, follow Santa Muerte," he adds.

The cult is also followed by criminals, policemen, politicians and artists.

"The biggest presence is in the poorest sectors of Mexican society," says journalist Jose Gil Olmos, who has published two books on Saint Death.

The first references to Saint Death occur in the 18th Century, he says, not in Aztec times, as many believe.

"In modern times the numbers of followers exploded, especially after the early 1990s economic meltdown."

Many middle-class Mexicans found themselves in misery. In despair they searched for hope, and some turned to Saint Death, Olmos says.

"From approximately eight years ago we have seen Santa Muerte having a big presence with drug cartel members, from the bosses all the way down. Why? Because these people say that Jesus or the Virgin Mary can't provide what they ask for, which is to be protected from soldiers, police and their enemies."

I went to see what this cult was all about at its biggest annual ceremony in the neighbourhood of Tepito, in Mexico City, a place riddled with drug trafficking and crime.

It's here that one of the biggest sanctuaries of Saint Death in Mexico is located. It's kept tidy by Enriqueta Romero, a woman in her sixties, whose life changed dramatically 12 years ago when she shocked her neighbours by putting a Saint Death figure in her window.

Over the years, more and more people started arriving to pay tribute to the skull figure in a dress. And now thousands gather for the cult's most important ceremony on 31 October, the eve of Mexico's Day of the Dead festival.

"She loves us and heals us. People come here to ask her for help - a son in prison or with Aids, or something to eat," says Romero.

During my visit, some people reach the shrine walking on their knees. One of them is a man who carries a 20-day-old baby in his arms. He's come to present his daughter to the skull.

I also see ordinary working-class families, pregnant women asking Death to protect the life of their unborn child, and plenty of people heavily tattooed with the female skull.

Are these people possessed, as the church says?

"No, I also believe in God, in the Virgin, and all the saints, but I am more devout to [Saint] Death. She is the one that helps me the most," says Jose Roberto Jaimes, a man in his 20s who's come on his knees to thank the skull after surviving three years in jail.

I get similar answers from all of the cult followers I talk to.

Romero says the church itself bears responsibility for the rise of the cult, having shot itself in the foot with the worldwide child abuse scandal.

"They finished off our faith with the things that the priests did. What can they criticise? That we believe in Death? That is not bad. What's bad is what they did," says Romero.

But does she feel comfortable knowing that people behind horrific crimes also follow this cult?

"We are in a free country and everyone can do what they want. We all will have to answer to God at some point," she says.

It was former President Felipe Calderon who launched the offensive against drug cartels in Mexico in 2006, by deploying troops to the worst-hit areas.

Over the years the military has discovered numerous shrines, temples and even churches of Saint Death across the region, and plenty of evidence of human sacrifice.

"He [Calderon] started a war against them and he started a war as well against the cult of Saint Death, and he asked the church to help him," says Father Ernesto Caro.

"The Church is not going to go on TV and say: 'Look, we think that Mexico is going to get better and be saved if we do exorcisms because the Devil is behind all of this.' We have to be discreet [with exorcisms] or else we may be ridiculed, even by our own followers," adds Father Carlos Triana.

Whether exorcisms can help reduce the drug-related violence in Mexico - especially the sadistic killings - is debatable. Although at this point, many in Mexico would probably welcome any help if it brings them some peace.

An Ontario teen who made headlines when she fought back against cruel bullies who mocked the disfigurement on half her face now has her own television special.

Sarah Atwell suffers from neurofibromatosis, a condition the 17-year-old was diagnosed with at 8 months, and the tumor it caused to grow on just one side of her face elicited cries of ‘fat face’ and ‘slut’ from ruthless schoolmates for years.

But in 2012, Atwell fought back. She posted a video to Facebook in which she made her intentions to live a happy life clear no matter what the bullies called her.

That remarkable strength first won Atwell droves of fans across the internet. Now it’s gotten her a special on Discovery Fit & Health slated to air December 18.

The special documents Atwell, who lives with her family in Nova Scotia, in the weeks leading up to what she hopes will be a life-altering surgery to remove the tumor once and for all.

All eyes are on the high schooler and thanks to her video they’re looks of adoration not fear or hate.

It wasn’t always like that. ‘I thought I’d make a video and say what’s been going on,’ she told Discovery.

She’d dealt with bullying all her life and at 16 she was fed up.

‘I was in grade three and people were calling me names like 'fat face' and 'ugly' and were pushing me around,’ Sarah told ABC News. ‘They said I had a disease. Most of the time, I just walked away and didn't say much to them.’

This night in 2012, she decided to say something. Using notecards, she wrote out everything her life with neurofibromatosis, and the bullies who came with it, made her feel.

‘I have a tumor, that’s all,’ says a card the teen holds for the world to see.

‘I wish people could understand there is nothing wrong with me,’ says another.

But people weren’t trying to understand, something the video makes heartbreakingly clear.

‘I get called names all the time,’ reads a card. ‘Bitch, slut, fat face, fat, ugly…it hurts.’

‘Maybe one day the bullying will stop, but until then I’m going to be STRONG,’ one of the last cards says.

Satisfied, Sarah posted her video to Facebook and went to bed.

‘The next day I got up and my inbox was over 1000 messages or more from people,’ Sarah said. ‘It felt pretty good.’

Among what was likely the millions who saw her video was someone from Discovery and the channel has documented a very exciting, and scary, part of the young girl’s life.

Sarah says she hopes to find a career where she can work with kids. And she’d give them all the wisdom she wish she’d been given.

This lonely lavatory has been dubbed the most extreme toilet in the world as it's perched on a cliff 2,600 metres (more than 8,500 feet) above sea level in SIBERIA.

The precarious privy in the Altai Mountains, Russia, serves the remote weather station at Kara-Tyurek — literally Black Heart in the local South Altayan language — which began working in 1939.

Five staff man the station at this outpost and this is their only toilet.

They are visited once a month by a postman to collect the weather data, and a helicopter delivers supplies of food and water each autumn.

Wood too, to burn on the stove, because there are no trees in this bleak landscape.

A recent survey of privies with panache by Interfax news agency in Belarus explained: "The toilet is perhaps the most unromantic place possible, but there are some parts of the world where people have made them something really special."

This Siberian commode was listed as the 'most extreme' in the world where the fear evaporates only after years using it.

In contrast, the most expensive toilet was rated as being at the Swiss Horn Gold Palace in Hong Kong.

It took several years and three tons of gold to assemble it. Everything in the toilet is made of gold, including the walls and ceiling, so visitors are obliged to put on protective footwear to enter the loo.

The scariest loo was found in Guadalajara, Mexico, which sits right on top of an open lift shaft on the 15th floor of a building. There is a layer of glass which constructors promise protect visitors from falling.

In what will soon be considered as the Holy Grail of extraterrestrial research, the Mexican government has released ancient documents proving the existence of E.T.’s once and for all.

[1] The two circles near the center of the artifact appear to be earth. [2] This appears to be a spacecraft of some type. [3] This appears to be a massive comet or asteroid headed toward earth. [4] Appears to be a specially designed spacecraft capable of deflecting a large comet or meteor, such as NASA “Deep Impact”. [5] Appears to be an astronaut in control of a craft. [6] What appears to be an intelligently controlled spacecraft.

Newly released Mayan documents, i.e. artifacts, dating back at least 1300-years reveal that the human race is not alone and highly advanced technologies including space travel have likely existed for quite some time.

Not only does this documentation released by the Mexican government show the existence of an explorer race, it may also reveal the roots of mankind.

Some consider the government’s presentation of the information to be a major step forward for humanity as the truth is finally being slowly let out. Hopefully this will prompt other governments around the world to be more forthcoming with such information, turning the tide in the UFO and extraterrestrial research community for good.

Sundance winner Juan Carlos Rulfo’sRevelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyondalso touches on such technology. “Producer Raul Julia-Levy said the documentary-makers were working in cooperation with the Mexican government for what he said was “the good of mankind”. He said the order to collaborate had come directly from the country’s president, Álvaro Colom Caballeros.

“Mexico will release codices, artefacts and significant documents with evidence of Mayan and extraterrestrial contact, and all of their information will be corroborated by archaeologists,” he said. “The Mexican government is not making this statement on their own – everything we say, we’re going to back it up.”

Caballeros himself was conspicuous by his absence from the statement released by Julia-Levy. So far, the minister of tourism for the Mexican state of Campeche, Luis Augusto García Rosado, appears to be the highest-ranking government official to go on record confirming the discovery of extraterrestrial life, but he’s not holding back.

In a statement, Rosado spoke of contact “between the Mayans and extraterrestrials, supported by translations of certain codices, which the government has kept secure in underground vaults for some time”. In a telephone conversation with the Wrap, he also spoke of “landing pads in the jungle that are 3,000 years old”.[2]

These secrets have been said to be “protected” by the mexican government for as long as 80-years.
