A farmer in Brazil had a lucky escape after slicing himself in the stomach with an angle grinderGregory Steinmedc, 56, was cutting wood at his home in Campina Mission when the powerful tool slipped and buried itself 10cm into his flesh.
His wife Frida carried out first aid to stop the bleeding before rushing him to the nearest hospital, 30 miles away in Santa Rosa.
Miraculously the blade missed all Gregory's vital organs and surgeons were able to remove it during a two-hour operation.
Speaking afterwards, surgeons claimed Frida's quick thinking saved her husband's life.
Medic Maurice Romano said: "There was some pre-hospital treatment which was very appropriate. If (she) had removed the saw during transport, it could have resulted in a haemorrhage of the abdominal wall and caused death."
Gregory, meanwhile, insists he'll never touch a power tool again
He said: "Never again. That I swear and I stand by that. I will not use them anymore. I can see that it is dangerous."
