KUALA LUMPUR, Senior Chinese and Malaysian military officialsreached consensus on Friday to further strengthen military cooperation between thetwo countries.
Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA), said the PLA hopes to bring the bilateral relations between the two armies to ahigher level by strengthening high-level exchange, strategic consultations, joint trainingand other forms of cooperation.

He made the remarks when paying a visit to the Defense Ministry of Malaysia, duringwhich he held talks with Deputy Minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad and Armed Forces chiefZulkifeli Mohd. Zin respectively.Qi said China and Malaysia, with a long history of traditional friendship, have fruitfulcooperation in politics, economy, trade, culture, among others.
Abdul Latiff praised China's efforts to keep world peace and promote commondevelopment. He said Malaysia is willing to increase exchange and cooperation withChina, in order to further promote the military relations between the two countries.

Zulkifeli, during his talk with the Chinese general, said Malaysian military attaches greatimportance to PLA's positive role in international and regional affairs.Malaysia would like to further boost practical cooperation with China and jointlymaintain peace and stability in the region, Zulkifeli added.
