Foley Beheading Video – Hoax? [VIDEO]

Whether the James Foley beheading execution video is authentic or hoax should be carefully looked at, personally, am unconvinced, without seeing blood or decapitation. The executor has been named as Jihadi John, named after the Beatles John Lennon. James also known as Jim Foley has allegedly been executed following almost two years of captivity, in revenge for recent US airstrikes on ISIL forces in Iraq. US journalist photographer James Wright Foley, commonly known as James Foley, was apparently been executed by The Islamic State militant group also known as ISIS IS or ISIL on the 19th August 2013. The unedited video of James Foley’s execution (as originally released on YouTube) is still not conclusive proof of his death. We cannot discount the video being fake, to an extent

The James Foley beheading execution video could be authentic, or quite possibly a propaganda hoax. There are a few issues, why did the executioner not use serrated side of knife first, why does the video not show actual beheading, is the dead head real or a photoshopped image. The sky even changes colour in different video scenes. Authenticity is an issue, though the US State Department have said the head image is authentic, I have doubts. Perhaps the decapitated head is the key question, if that is authentic, then Jim Foley is truly dead. Hard to say %100 from any digital image though.

At this stage it is very hard to say for sure what the truth is, of course a terrible act upon an innocent man, who was only trying to record and report on what was happening in Syria back in 2012. James Foley was doing a remarkably dangerous job, and the people who took him have little honour. There is considerable editing in the video, for example he has a microphone on him for part of the video, then cuts to video without that. Not conclusive proof of anything, but shows not a continuous video. It would be reasonable to think the microphone was removed after he finishes speaking.

Twitter erupted in shock yesterday, 19th August 2014, after Islamic State supporters on Twitter started Tweeting pictures and then the video of James Foley’s beheading. It was claimed James had been beheaded and recorded a final statement. The American photojournalist was apparently executed in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq, as detailed by the executor on the video. James Foley himself appears in the video to blame US foreign policy for his death, and is remarkably calm, I admire him greatly.


The video initially released online via YouTube (then removed and censored) show’s the execution of James Wright Foley after he recited a statement in which he called the U.S. government “my real killers.” There is a second prisoner, believed to be Steven Joel Sotloff, who like James Foley is an American journalist. Sotloff disappeared in August 2013 while covering Syria’s civil war. I am not sure how many western captives the Islamic State has, but would presume a good number.

The masked executioner, speaking with what sounds like a Birmingham or London British accent, identifies Joel Sotloff and says that “the life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision.” Joel as James is dressed in an orange jumpsuit, which brings the US Guantanamo Bay detention/torture camp into the picture.

There is considerable doubt as to the authenticity of the video, and it fails to show the actual beheading, no doubt people will now be carefully considering if the video is some kind of hoax, and the family could still hold out some hope. On the other hand, maybe it is legitimate and there is definite proof of his death, the video alone does not prove that, in my mind.
