Mars continues to surprise astronomers and scientists alike. We came across this image taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in 2010. In the image shared by NASA we observe two very strange objects on the surface of the Red Planet. Although these objects were first identified in 1998, these more recent images show the objects with more detail, but there is still no explanation as to what these strange figures are.
Interestingly, they appear when the surface of Mars begins to warm, showing up in the same location most of the time and as winter approaches on the Red planet the disappear, every time. The leading explanation is that the objects are geysers of CO2 exploding from underneath the planet’s surface.
But does this explanation hold up? Or is there a possibility that there is something below the Martian surface that the public isn’t aware of?
